Glossary
Ag
Silver
Au
Gold
Base metal
A non-precious metal, such as copper, lead or zinc.
Cu
Copper
Cut-off grade
Lowest grade of mineralised material that qualifies as ore.
Grade
Quantity of metal per unit weight of host rock.
g/t
Grammes per tonne
Indicated Mineral Resource
That part of a Mineral Resource for which tonnage, densities, shape, physical characteristics, grade and mineral content can be estimated with a reasonable level of confidence. The locations are too widely or inappropriately spaced to confirm geological and/or grade continuity but are spaced closely enough for continuity to be assumed.
Inferred Mineral Resource
That part of a Mineral Resource for which tonnage, grade and mineral content can be estimated with a low level of confidence, based on information gathered from pits, drill holes etc.
JORC
Australasian Code for Reporting of
Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves,
(JORC Code, 2004 edition).
Kriging
Technique used to provide unbiased weighted estimation of a block value when the geostatistical signature is identified.
Limestone
Sedimentary rock consisting largely of calcium carbonate, mainly as calcite.
LTIFR
Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate per million manhours worked
Measured Mineral Resource
That part of a Mineral Resource for which tonnage, densities, shape, physical characteristics, grade and mineral content can be estimated with a high level of confidence. Based on detailed and reliable exploration, sampling and testing information. Locations spaced closely enough to confirm geological and/or grade continuity.
Mineral Resource
Concentration or occurrence of material of intrinsic economic interest in or on the earth’s crust with reasonable prospects for economic extraction.
Ore Reserve
Economically mineable part of a Measured or Indicated Mineral Resource, classified into Probable and Proved, respectively.
Pb
Lead
Precious metal
Rare metallic chemical element of high economic value, such as gold or silver
Probable Ore Reserve
Economically mineable part of an Indicated Mineral Resource. Assessments including metallurgical, economic and other factors demonstrate that extraction could reasonably be justified. Lower level of confidence than a Proved Ore Reserve.
Proved Ore Reserve
Economically mineable part of a Measured Mineral Resource. Assessments demonstrate that extraction could reasonably be justified.
RC
Reverse circulation drilling. A percussion drilling technique in which the cuttings are recovered through the drill rods, thereby minimising losses and contamination.
Skarn
Metamorphic rock formed by chemical metasomatism of rocks during metamorphism and in the contact zone of magmatic intrusions like granites with carbonate-rich rocks such as limestone or dolomite. Skarns are often hosts for copper, lead, zinc, iron, gold, molybdenum, tin, and tungsten ore deposits.
Tailings
Material rejected from a treatment plant after the recoverable valuable minerals have been extracted
Zn
Zinc
ZnEq
Zinc equivalent
