The Gurrundah Barite project represents potentially one of Australia’s highest grade barite deposits.
The Gurrundah Barite project is located west of Goulburn and about 40 kilometres north of Woodlawn.
Around 7,000 tonnes of barite were mined from the deposit from 1946-58, after which explorers drilled about 40 holes over the period 1968-71 to evaluate the deposit. The main barite lens was found to extend over a strike length of 230 metres, ranging from 4.5 to 21 metres width near the surface.
Previous work has outlined about 350,000 tonnes of barite mineralisation at a specific gravity of 4.27 to 60 metres below surface, although this is not JORC-compliant and needs validation.
Tri Origin intends to explore and evaluate the opportunity to produce value-added barium products either on a standalone basis or as a joint venture, in line with the Company’s overall vision for the Woodlawn district.
